CIBA Newsletter - January 2009
£ CIBA holidays were jolly when the following businesses RENEWED THEIR CIBA MEMBERSHIP: Corvallis Albany Farmers Market, Country Vitamins, Gathering Together Farms, Mary’s River Acupuncture, Phoenix Counseling, Sibling Revelry, Special Occasions and Tobias Weiss Design. THANK YOU!
£ Kick off the New Year with a CIBA MEMBERSHIP MEETING! This month’s meeting will be Wednesday, January 28, at the First Alternative Food Co-op (south store) Community Meeting Room on SE Chapman. We’ll gather at 5:30 pm for introductions, networking and snacks, and then Pat Sardell will facilitate a terrific sharing and problem-solving session. Please come with a tip you’ve used to successfully negotiate a downturn in the economy and/or bring a challenge or problem you may be facing. After learning from each other, we will combine our efforts to help address remaining tough issues.
£ Do you know an independent business owner who is not a member of CIBA? If so, INVITE A BUSINESS FRIEND to this month’s membership meeting! The more awesome tips we share and the more people to brainstorm solutions to challenges, the more productive the meeting will be. In tough times, networking with other independent local businesses becomes even more critical to our economic health and success.
£ CIBA is gearing up to produce a 2009 DIRECTORY INSERT. If you are a paid-up business member who missed being included in our 2008 Directory, this is your opportunity. The insert will be placed inside the directories and distributed to member businesses and at community events. Colleen will be contacting you to verify information; or get a jump on the process and call Tuesdays/Thursdays – 752-0047.
£ As an independent local business owner, don’t forget to SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW CIBA MEMBERS! Need something for your home or business? Look for a CIBA-member business in the CIBA Directory. When you shop at CIBA-member businesses, let them know you’re a CIBA member, too. Go, Team CIBA!
£ SUSTAINABILITY TIP O’ THE MONTH. As of January 1, free e-cycling has come to Oregon! Old computers, monitors and TV sets can now be recycled for free at designated collection centers. The program is available to households, small businesses, nonprofits and people recycling seven or fewer items. Empty those closets now! According to www.oregonecycles.org, approved collection centers in the Corvallis area include Allied Waste (at both Coffin Butte and at 110 NE Walnut); Goodwill (both locations); and Computer Tune Up & Repair.
