£ OVERHEARD AT THE MARCH MEMBERSHIP MEETING. A hearty round of applause and thanks to Harold, Cindi and Kyle Tegner from Special Occasions for hosting the March CIBA Membership Meeting at their fun store (www.onestoppartyshop.net )! There was a lot of networking going on at the meeting. During introductions, the following were some of the items shared by local businesses:

* Host business Special Occasions has been Corvallis’s party store since 1986. They are preparing for quite a big party in early June – OSU’s Graduation, complete with First Lady Michelle Obama serving as the Commencement speaker.

* First Alternative Food Co-op will be celebrating Earth Day on April 22 with 10% off Local 6 and Grower Direct products. And watch for the mariachis for Cinco de Mayo, too!

* Despite the snow, rain, and hail it really is time for softball season. Element Graphics is ready to meet your team’s T-shirt needs. They carry organic tees, and have recently hired a second graphic designer to work with you on your design.

* Live Well Studio-Pilates Yoga & Dance will be conducting a 200 hour yoga teacher training series this summer. Contact them for more info.

* Milestones: This month, Shonnard’s Nursery Landscape and Florist is celebrating their 28th year! Be looking for a special celebration the weekend of April 20 – and be sure to visit their new rain harvest and pond area. Blue Dawg Promotions (formerly Innovative Business Promotions) has been in business for 27 years. And 2012 is the 55th year for Citizens Bank!

£ We hope everyone took advantage of the beautiful spring day Saturday, April 14, by welcoming back the outdoor Saturday Farmers’ Market! CIBA member CORVALLIS-ALBANY FARMERS’ MARKETS noted in a recent press release that the record-setting March weather really impacted the small farms that sell at local markets. Fortunately, many of them were ready to celebrate spring with their delicious produce, spring flowers, and yummy treats last Saturday. Look for more of the same tomorrow, April 18, when the Wednesday Farmers’ Market opens for the season – at the same site (1st & Jackson, 9 am – 1 pm). Market shoppers can use features on www.locallygrown.org to search for products or for particular vendors and they can view interactive maps showing the location of vendors on each market day.
