£ We’ve had another year of a terrific BUY LOCAL FIRST SERIES! Many thanks to our partners – First Alternative Food Cooperative and Corvallis Odd Fellows. Much appreciation to our celebrity pancake flippers: Dick Obrist, Mike McInally, and Mysty Rusk and to our head scrambler, Bob Baird. We also appreciate the local businesses that set up display tables at the breakfasts. And many, many thanks to our wonderful volunteers who helped prep, mix, set up, bus tables, wash dishes, serve, organize, advertise, clean up and make this a really fun event!
£ The JULY CIBA MEMBERSHIP MEETING will by Wednesday, July 29th, at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Gluten Free RN, 215 SW 4th. Join us for an evening of networking and information. Elaine Blatt from Onward Oregon – a 5-year-old, all volunteer project, with a mission to champion the public interest – will discuss the Oregon Informed Growth Act, which they hope to introduce during the 2010 legislative session. If passed, this act would require an economic impact study if a store over 75,000 sq ft wanted to move into a community (a similar act has passed in Maine). Bring a business friend, make new friends in the local independent business community, and enjoy some tasty refreshments!
£ MOCK INTERVIEWERS NEEDED for enthusiastic high school students participating in the OSU YEBW entrepreneurship intensive camp. If you’re available Wednesday, (7/22) from 3:30-5:00 pm, contact Alexa Carey immediately at careyale@onid.orst.edu.
